🍄🌿 Discover the Magic of Fungi at Trentham! 🌿🍄
October at Trentham is a fungi paradise! 🍁 Our estate is bursting with amazing species—from delicate waxcaps in the grasslands to striking bracket fungi on our ancient trees.
We celebrated National Fungi Day last Saturday with an exciting fungi foray alongside the Staffordshire Fungi Group, discovering species like Hen of the Woods (Grifola frondosa), Penny Bun (Boletus edulis), Dusky Puffball (Lycoperdon nigrescens), Porcelain Fungus (Mucidula mucida), and the iconic Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria)! 👀✨
Want to join the fun? Come along on our guided fungi walks with our expert Wildlife Rangers on the 15th and 18th of October! 🌲 These walks are free for Trentham members, and for non-members, the price includes garden admission.

As the seasons and the weather turns more autumnal, the team are currently working on changing over our planting scheme in the shopping village. 🍂🛍️
Here`s a reminder of the vibrant annuals and tenders that have been flowering all summer long. ☀️
The cannas, as always, have dazzled (in what little sun we have had this summer) and had many a visitor query `what they are`. ☀️ These too have to be the team’s favourite plant in the summer scheme! We are currently storing them away to keep the frost at bay, so they are here for next year’s display, and many more to come! ❄️
Winter colour and interest is always a tough one to plant up for, especially in container planting schemes, so please do keep a look out over the next week or so to see what we have come up with. 🌲👀
